Drop Ins

Sistering’s Drop Ins provide basic services to women who are homeless, underhoused, low income or marginalized and are looking for a safe and welcoming place to go during the day. In a welcoming, non-judgmental environment women can access much-needed supports. Sistering serves a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse population in a positive environment through shared commitment to principles of equity and access.

Drop In – 962 Bloor Street West

At our Bloor Street Drop women can access a full range of services, seven days a week. Our basic services include:

  • light breakfast and hot lunch
  • access to laundry
  • access to showers
  • daybeds for napping
  • a mailing address, if needed
  • access to local phone and email
  • TTC tokens for regular users of Sistering services.

Broader support services include:

  • Referral to emergency shelters, housing and housing workers, social assistance, legal aid, health care and therapists
  • Workshops and programs for emotional and physical health and well-being including counselling
  • Advocacy and support to access programs and government services
  • Accompanying women and supplying translation for appointments with lawyers, police, social workers
  • Social and recreational programs including arts and crafts, music, videos, trips and camping
  • Crisis intervention and prevention support for women dealing with trauma and abuse.

Hours:
Monday: 11:30am – 3:00pm
Tuesday and Friday: 9:30am - 5:00pm
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday: 9:30am – 3:00pm

Parkdale Drop In and Outreach Program

Located in the Masaryk-Cowan Community Centre at 220 Cowan Avenue, the Parkdale Drop In and Outreach program offers:

  • Hot meals, clothing, transportation
  • Support with and referral to housing and housing workers, education classes, health care, therapists, legal services
  • Social and recreational activities including arts and crafts, videos, speakers, day trips and workshops
  • Assisted transportation to the program in our wheelchair accessible van for women in our catchment area
  • Advocacy for women to access programs and government services in their community and to work with groups and coalitions on issues.
